Hardwood Mulch is made from reclaimed wood from land clearing and tree trimming. It is processed, composted to add nutrients, and screened for a uniform look. The final product is a natural dark brown mulch with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH (7–8).

Moisture Retention – Mulch helps the soil hold onto water, so you don’t have to water as often, especially in hot weather. Mulch acts like a barrier between the soil and the air. Without it, water evaporates quickly—especially in hot, dry conditions like Texas summers. By covering the soil, mulch slows evaporation and helps water soak in more deeply.
Weed Suppression – A good layer of mulch blocks sunlight, making it harder for weeds to grow. Weeds need sunlight to germinate and grow and a 2–4 inch layer of mulch blocks that light, making it much harder for weed seeds to sprout. Even if some weeds do break through, they’re usually fewer in number and easier to pull.
Temperature Regulation – It keeps soil cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, protecting plant roots.
Mulch acts like insulation:
Soil Improvement – Organic mulches break down over time, adding nutrients and improving soil structure which leads to richer, more fertile soil without needing as much fertilizer.
As they decompose, they:
Erosion Control – Mulch reduces runoff from rain or watering, helping keep soil in place. Heavy rain or strong watering can wash away topsoil, which contains the most nutrients. Mulch helps by:
Absolutely! This mulch is composted and has a neutral to slightly alkaline pH, making it suitable for most plants, trees, and landscape applications. As it breaks down, it even adds nutrients back into the soil.
Yes, when applied at the proper depth (2–4 inches), Hardwood Mulch helps block sunlight, making it harder for weed seeds to grow. While it won’t eliminate weeds entirely, it significantly reduces their growth and makes them easier to remove.
Like any organic material, mulch can attract some natural soil organisms, but this is typically beneficial for soil health. Proper installation—such as keeping mulch a few inches away from foundations and plant stems—helps minimize the risk of unwanted pests.
Hardwood Mulch naturally breaks down over time, which is great for your soil. Most customers refresh their mulch once a year to maintain appearance and performance, though high-traffic or weather-exposed areas may need touch-ups sooner.
